A football trip should feel like a trip

You are not travelling all the way to Liverpool just to see 90 minutes of football.

The fixture may be why you booked the train, flight or car — but Liverpool gives you much more to build around it.

Stay centrally and the group can walk to restaurants, bars, Liverpool ONE, the waterfront and the city's main attractions, then head to the stadium when matchday actually arrives.

For groups in particular, a serviced apartment can make more sense than splitting everyone between separate hotel rooms: you have bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and a place to regroup before and after the match.

Liverpool's football grounds

Two clubs. Two stadiums. Two very different matchday experiences.

The right accommodation base depends on which match you are attending and how much of Liverpool you want to experience around it.

Anfield

Anfield Road · North Liverpool

For Liverpool FC supporters, matchday is naturally centred on Anfield. But unless the stadium is the only reason for your visit, staying immediately beside the ground is not automatically the strongest choice for the rest of the weekend.

Best base City centre for a complete weekend; Anfield area for stadium-first trips.
Matchday strategy Travel to the stadium and leave your luggage and car at your accommodation.

Everton's waterfront home creates a very different football trip. Its dockside position makes Liverpool city-centre and waterfront accommodation particularly logical for supporters who want restaurants, nightlife and sightseeing alongside the fixture.

Turn the fixture into a proper trip

Football feels different when nobody has to rush home after full-time.

A two or three-night stay changes the experience completely. Arrive without matchday pressure, spend time in Liverpool, enjoy the game and return to an apartment where the whole group can sit together afterwards.

Choose your base

Where should football supporters stay in Liverpool?

Do not choose purely by distance from the turnstile. Choose according to what you actually want from the whole trip.

01

Liverpool City Centre

The strongest all-round choice for most football weekends. Restaurants, bars, shopping, Lime Street, Liverpool ONE and major attractions remain close while you travel to the stadium specifically for the game.

Best for: groups, nightlife and full weekends
02

Near Anfield

Makes sense where proximity to Liverpool FC is the overwhelming priority and you are less concerned about having central Liverpool outside your door for the remainder of the trip.

Best for: stadium-first Liverpool FC trips
03

Waterfront / North Centre

Particularly useful for Everton weekends. You retain city-centre access while positioning the stay naturally towards Bramley-Moore Dock and the northern waterfront.

Best for: Everton and EURO 2028

Liverpool v Manchester City — Sunday 11 October

A Sunday fixture is almost designed for a Liverpool weekend. Arrive Friday or Saturday, enjoy the city before the match, make Sunday about Anfield and stay overnight instead of joining the immediate post-match exodus.

Where the group stays

Liverpool accommodation that actually works for football weekends.

These are not football-themed rooms. They are practical bases for supporters who need the things that matter after travelling to a game: separate beds, living space, kitchens, easy arrival and selected parking.

A football guest already put it better than we could

“Superb property wonderfully located for our purposes (going to Anfield for a game).”

Guest review · 4-BR Liverpool House · April 2026

Matchday without the chaos

A football weekend works better when the accommodation problem is already solved.

Park once. Drop the bags. Go to the game.

If your apartment has parking, there is usually little reason to drag the car into the stadium area on matchday.

Leave your belongings at the accommodation and make the stadium journey separately.

Morning — Liverpool first

Breakfast in the apartment or city centre. Nobody is checking out, moving luggage or finding somewhere to leave suitcases.

Before kick-off — head to the stadium

Give yourself time. The pre-match atmosphere is part of the reason you travelled to Liverpool in the first place.

Match — enjoy it

Your accommodation is already sorted. The group does not need to think about check-in, luggage or driving home.

After full-time — back to Liverpool

Return to your apartment, order food, go back into the city or simply sit together and argue about the referee.

The next morning

Breakfast, shower and travel home after the crowds have dispersed rather than immediately after the final whistle.

The other half of the weekend

Football is the excuse. Liverpool is the destination.

If you are already travelling here, use the rest of the weekend. Major events, nightlife, restaurants, the waterfront, music history and city attractions are precisely why staying centrally can beat sleeping beside the stadium.

Football accommodation FAQ

Questions supporters usually ask before booking.

Where is the best place to stay for an Anfield match?

If football is the only purpose of your visit, staying closer to Anfield may be convenient. If you are turning the fixture into a weekend, Liverpool city centre usually gives you more restaurants, nightlife, attractions and transport options around the game.

Do you have accommodation specifically suitable for Liverpool FC supporters?

Yes. Our four-bedroom Liverpool house is particularly relevant for Anfield trips, while our central apartments work well for supporters who want to combine the fixture with a Liverpool city break.

Can a football group stay together rather than book several hotel rooms?

Yes. Selected Sidemersey Livings properties sleep six or seven guests and provide bedrooms plus shared living and kitchen areas, which can be considerably more practical for groups travelling together.

Do your Liverpool football stays include parking?

Selected properties include on-site, secure or private parking. Parking arrangements differ by property, so check the individual listing before booking.

Do you provide Liverpool FC or Everton match tickets?

No. Sidemersey Livings provides accommodation only. Match tickets should be purchased from the relevant club or authorised ticket channels.

Is Liverpool city centre suitable for an Everton football weekend?

Yes. Hill Dickinson Stadium is positioned on Liverpool's northern waterfront, making central and waterfront accommodation particularly useful for supporters who also want to explore Liverpool during the trip.

Can I book several nights around a football match?

Yes. A two or three-night stay is often a better way to experience a weekend fixture because it removes the pressure of travelling immediately before or after the match.

Is Liverpool hosting EURO 2028?

Liverpool is one of the tournament host cities. See our dedicated EURO 2028 Liverpool page for match planning and accommodation information.
